One of Hornet's distinctive attributes that were absent with the Knight is her ability to communicate. However, they can keep some Beads on strings to prevent them from losing. The trailer and demo already showed a few tools the player will be able to use. Tools take up crests instead of notches, and these also function differently from the previous game. What's even more incredible is that the player seems to have the chance to craft these tools themselves. In Silksong, instead of using charms, Hornet uses tools. Many of these are movements and attacks she was already shown doing in the previous game. Hornet also does an offensive move where she hovers in the air and spools of silk dance around her, damaging anything they touch. She can also heal so much faster than the Knight. In Hollow Knight, the player descends deeper underground as they traverse Hallownest and discover everything there is to see in the world. However, most of the enemies in the game, or at least, those that have already been shown, wear musical instruments as armors and excrete threads of silk when hit. What this exactly means is still yet to be seen. The sequel will take the players away from Hallownest and take them to a new kingdom of Pharloom, an area said to be ruled by Silk and Song.
